A Merry Christmas in Battambang

After arriving in Phnom Penh, David Hall our faithful friend greeted us at the airport and took us to the guesthouse he found for us fairly close to where their family lives. Then gave us the tour, so we could familiarize ourselves with the streets ect. so we could find ourselves around the area,  Taking us then downtown to get our bus tickets to Battambang, since we were leaving in day. In the process, Stan forgot to buckle seatbelt! and David got stopped by police,  issued Stan a $10.00 ticket! who would have thought! but seeing white guys w/o seatbelt equals $$ signs :))
We then went to their home where he offered the use of his Moto, so we could get around, for the rest of Sunday evening and Monday to begin getting used to driving in the PP traffic :/ . Off we went back to our guesthouse driving ourselves....... I should have taken pictures but, when fearing for life, and not yet really resting after traveling from USA it wasn't what I was thinking of, sorry.... After arriving back at our guest house we decided to try to find "dinner". So we went up the street to a local noodle shop, where we joined the locals on the street for a bowl of noodles, with an assortment of "meats" meatballs, dark red/brown stuff , that Stan thought was tofu, but was really blood they make into a tofu like substance. ( I left that in my bowl) over all very tasty!
Monday we toured around getting brave with our traveling the streets , keeping fairly close to our area, we were familiar with. In the afternoon we returned to the Halls for dinner and returning the moto. (thank goodess still in one piece!) for a delicious dinner of stir fry and rice krispie treats.
Tuesday morning 5:45 am David picked us up and off to the bus station. to head to Battambang!
Beautiful flowers in Our room from Rajana
We arrived in Batambang greeted warmly by the family here! introduced to the new Baby girl of Ming and Rajana :)

We then spent the afternoon helping Vandy and her husband gather tables and chairs, and dishes for the Merry Christmas Party!
Wednesday was the scheduled party day, So off to Vandy's home after breakfast to help get everything ready! between Stan and I we have so many pictures hard to pick what to include here!! first it was helping with decorations then cut up many many chickens, or should I say "hacked"  up! Phally mom tried to show me, ( she seemed very concerned I would cut my hand or fingers off! ).

I learned you just take a whole chicken, head, feet & all and cut into small pieces, no deboning at all! easy!:)throw it in the pot! We made 2 very large pots ! chicken curry for all to enjoy with bread,

it was hard to stir that much so they asked Stan to help stir so it wouldn't burn.

always a cute baby to take photo of :) enjoying rice for lunch

Such a brief glimpse at our Day with Vandy Ministry! They did an amazing job, several songs & games to show the parent & grandparents what they are learning about Jesus!! Most of these are Parents & grandparents who don't know about our Lord Jesus! Our hearts were full when we left after the party seeing the amazing job and all the work so well done by everyone!!
There was plenty of food left so the families could take the leftovers home to enjoy later, many of these families are barely surviving , and any "good" food is appreciated! Wish you all were here to enjoy this special time with us!!

off to the market this morning on moto with Maht (Phally mom for breakfast)

Off again to Cambodia , excited to see how the trips unfolds!

Well, Dec.26 2014 Stan & I left for Cambodia, there are a lot of tentative meetings & plans but nothing really for sure/pinned down as yet, so it will be exciting to see what a God has in store for us.
Our favorite "send off" crew!!

We are sitting in Taipei airport waiting for our last leg of this trip over to begin, feeling a bit tired and still struggling with a chest cold, hoping to be past it before the 30th when we head to Battambang where we will stay with our Khmer family we stayed with last time, they have a new addition of a baby girl & I don't want to get her sick!!
We will join Vandy family ministry as they celebrate Christmas on the 31st. Look forward to sharing pictures of that event!

Last days, much to learn...,

Wow! This will be my 3rd attempt at making a post! First time I had it done with lots of pictures and it had gotten deleted somehow.... Maybe some of you saw it? This morning I attempted again to do a quick summarization, closed my iPad, forgot to hit save & proof it's gone, grrrrr.
Here we go again... Our last week in Battambang we were treated with a tour of several historical sights around Battambang by Phally family & were introduced to "suki soup" ! We enjoyed serving in the church one last time, teaching Sunday school & sharing in song & testimony. I also enjoyed getting to know the kids at vandy's family ministry, a little more, thru helping teach English in afternoon & we spent our last Sunday with them teaching bible & playing games. With the generosity of Cv friends we were able to help with food, clothes & medical needs for some of the most urgent needs of the kids & families that come to this ministry, we were also able to help with the finances to provide for the kids school uniforms so they could attend school, the new school year is about to start. Vandy's was so over joyed with this gift!!! She immediately went out & purchased the uniforms & sent me pictures!! Here are a few pictures of the kids
Kids thanking for uniforms :)
The older kids some who help with teaching, many have amazing testimonies!

Last Monday we headed back to Phnom Penh, after tearful goodbye's :(. That afternoon we enrolled in language classes & had our first 2 hrs... Yes it was a long day!
We spent 4-5hrs a day last week thru Saturday in class trying to get a bit more of this language.... Sunday we went to church with Tonet family where we were asked to share or something ... So we sang a couple songs in Khmer for them... Good bad I don't know....
Yesterday ( Monday ) we went to class in the morning then spent the afternoon going out to visit "Place of Rescue", over an hour on tuk tuk to get out there ( took over 11/2hrs to return do to incredible traffic!! ) WOW, we spent a few hours visiting with an incredible lady!! Who has an amazing ministry to orphans & widows & aids victims... What an encouragement to see a successful ministry of love & compassion for the "least of these" I got to hold a preemie baby :)) we could have easily spent lots of time there it was so special!! if you want to learn more about this ministry look them up online "place of rescue " there is still a huge need for motherless children here in this country!!  Sorry pictures are in our camera & I only have an iPad .
This morning is language test morning :{{{ ...
We will be flying out on Saturday night to come home, we are helping Phally niece come to America to go to YWAM DTS program, pray for her "Sreynoit" this is her first time to leave home! She & her family are nervous about it but know that God has worked it all out for her:) to attend this school.
This trip has been so much more about God teaching us, stretching us....,way more than us doing for others!
Will see you all soon thank you for all your prayers!!! :) pray for us as we continue to learn language & seek what God has for us, Where He wants to use us in regards to Cambodia. We have many options it seems but only want what He wants!!
